mystery unsolved

[26/08/2014]
I'm an eyeshadow girl through and through. Growing up I loved staring at smokey eyes in the magazines and now I feel like something is missing without a bit of shadow around my peepers. But with my oily and hooded lids, it's a been a problematic journey. Sigh. This is an area where everything I've tried, cult or not, has not lived up to what it promises and I'm starting to think, it's just me. *cries*

Eye Primers
The lot in the pictures is just a fraction of the few that I've tried. From Urban Decay to Nars, nothing has got me past the 5 hour mark without a crease and I even powder them before shadow which does add another hour or so but does make shadows tougher to blend. I'm starting to just accept that creasy lids is a way of life, weep.

Mascaras
I have elephant lashes. My lashes are on the thick side, and not too shabby in length, but the combination of these two mean that they stick down stubbornly. I've tried many a waterproof mascara that promise hours of wear, the black under my eyes after an hour or so prove otherwise. I've been looking into tube mascaras but the priciness attached really turns me off. So while this is the crucial step most people's makeup, I can't say I love it.

Cream Shadows
Oh how I love the idea of cream shadows. Swipe, smudge and go - done. But no, these last the least on me from creamy to liquid formulas and to creamy pencils. Even the very exxy ByTerry Ombre Blackstar smudges on me. It's strength on my lower lash line does give me hope but on the top, nada (primer or not). If I've truly have given up on anything, it is definitely this category.

Pencil Liners
Yup you guessed it, more smudging. From Stila's smudge sticks to Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Pencils to Rimmel Scandal'eyes, nuffin works. Liquid liners are better but for a smokey eye lovin' girl, it's just not my preferred look. Eyeshadows are now my go too, better lasting power and wear off well, and not too panda style..
