Winter skin is not pretty. Especially for skin that is already on the dry side most of the yea, ugh. I've been amping up my game in the past few weeks, and have been turning to these moisture wonders to aid through the southern hemisphere's winter (ie. you northies' version of spring eh? I'm weak, I know.)
First off is the ever present argan oil and I swear by the one by Acure. A fair trade and well priced bottle - I'm not trying any alternatives! This was the first ever skincare product that actually visibly helped my skin a few years ago when I first started using it. I use oil as a last step in my regime, not as a serum because I believe it works best outside water based creams as it acts as a barrier and holds the moisture in. I'm not usually a hand cream person but I'm starting to feel the parchness in my hands and quite frankly, I don't like it. After finishing a trial size of the Balance Me Super Moisturising Hand Cream awhile back I knew it was a good 'un for the super dry. Not greasy for something so thick but not for the faint hearted either, this does take a few seconds of massaging it in but it's worth it to keep them hands from looking crepey. There's a new love in the house and it's the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. A cult classic with a well deserved status. While it doesn't help smooth over dry patches before foundation, I find that it helps foundations last so much longer (preventing my dry skin from drinking up the moisture in the foundation, eek) and boosts that glow that winter skin usually lacks. It's helped almost every foundation I've mixed it with that I can see myself always having this in my drawer. Last but not least is the Bloom Soothing Lip Balm. In attempt to step up my beauty game, I'm using lip balm more consistently and I'm lovin' it. I used to be so lazy but I'm slowly understand that habit of reapplying and wanting to reapply lip balms, that I see so many people do. This guy lasts on the lips till the morning - beaute.
What do you turn to when the air starts to chill? Recommendations are always welcome ;)
