Up until last night, this is what my makeup stash looked like. *hangs head in shame*. This may not seem a lot to a beauty follower, but to an average person, wowser!
I really caught the beauty bug in 2012-13 and like many beauty lovers, wanted to try a lot of things. But lately I've felt a need to cut down on all my beauty consumption including how many blogs I follow, channels I watch and how frequently and how much I buy. Don't get me wrong, I still love this stuff, I just feel like I know who I am more more now, where my tastes lie and where I want to focus my energy. I was quite lost with life in those two years and beauty was such a new and fun discovery for me and was a lovely escape. Since the turn of the year, since said epiphanies I now no longer feel that need for more stuff. It doesn't take the beauty love away (admittedly I am currently lusting after the return of MAC's Stereo Rose..), just the craziness! As much as I love this stuff, I know I'm not a a beauty girl through and through like some of my favourite bloggers a la viviannadoesmakeup, lilypebbles etc. I'm grateful for this period though because it helped me find my identity as a creative person (sappy, but true), refine my application techniques, find confidence to wear makeup and lastly, figure out my style/aesthetic, which for me, is the most important thing out of all this. I just want to be a creative person, more than a hoarder :P
So I've packed away some things to sell and give away and have aimed to just fill up half the drawer. Once it's done, there will be a storage post! Yay! Blog sale, coming soon. Some goodies included in this picture..
